Amy Erwin Memorial Garden Refresh

In the memory and honor of Amy Erwin (1961-2018), we installed a shade garden on the southern side of Candler Park. Opened in 2020, this garden can be found where the pedestrian path from McLendon Avenue crosses through a meadow between the Park's wooded coves. The garden's intention is to beautify this corridor of Candler Park, serving as a place for quiet contemplation of natural areas, and stand as an enduring reminder of Amy and her profound commitment to Candler Park.

Amy was, among many other things, a founding board member of the Candler Park Conservancy. She was beloved and respected for her strength of spirit, wit, charm, and intelligence. And also for her significant and long-standing volunteer service to the stewardship, beautification, and improvement of Candler Park.

The garden after our projects team mulched, cleaned, and planted

Almost 5 years after dedicating the garden, it was time to invest another round of improvements. Our projects committee, working with neighbors who fundraised for the effort, updated her memorial garden by cleaning the stones, planting hardy native plants, improving drainage, and mulching.

We hope that the next time you are in the park you find a few moments to rest in this beautiful space.
