About us
The Candler Park Conservancy is a membership-based 501c3 nonprofit organization run by volunteers and dedicated to the preservation and improvement of Candler Park, which is one of Atlanta's largest, most popular and most historic parks. Community members formed the Conservancy in 2016, after a master plan for the neighborhood of Candler Park recommended that an independent conservancy be formed to advance the community's wish list for the park itself. Since then, we've organized more than 20 recreational and educational events, and have completed half a dozen small to medium-sized projects. We've also advocated for the park. And we worked with the city, ordinary citizens and one of the Southeast's leading architecture firms to develop a Vision Plan that will make Candler Park a model of sustainable recreation. The Conservancy operates under the leadership of our board with the support of a growing community of members and volunteers. We work in close partnership with the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation and Candler Park Neighborhood Organization and a host of other important stakeholders, organizations and individuals that share our interest in the park. In its advocacy, programs and projects, the board is guided by three principles:
We strive to engage stakeholders in formulating, prioritizing, and implementing a collective vision for Candler Park in partnership with the city of Atlanta. We're working to establish Candler Park as "Atlanta's natural place to play" -- a place that inspires people, and connects them to fulfilling activities, to one another and to our natural environment. We believe the Vision Plan, which includes enhancements and sustainable features for existing park amenities, reflects that aspiration. If you love Candler Park or simply enjoy any of the great activities it has to offer, please JOIN US in making this jewel even better. |
